Christmas Cards

Christmas in July?

Hi! Has anyone out there celebrated Christmas in July by sending out cards? The last several years, I've had difficulty getting cards out to everyone because I like to tuck in a personal handwritten note. I've also noticed myself opening cards from others without notes with just a quick glance. (Not those from friends or family I see frequently but with whom this seems to be my only contact.) Though I appreciate being remembered, I've wondered at the sincerity (for lack of a better word) behind the thought or whether it's just one more chore to be crossed off a list. So, I came up with this brainstorm to try sending out cards when I have more time to write and really reach out. But, now that I sit down to this undertaking, it seems a little foolish. I'm not sure whether to send actual Christmas cards, which for this mailing anyway, are specifically talking about lights and holiday wishes. I don't necessarily want to create more stress by making my own cards, which appeals to my creative side but I know I won't see through. Any thoughts from anyone??? Thanks.

Displaying Christmas Cards

Does anyone have any ideas on crafting something to display Christmas cards we've received?  Any ideas or websites would be helpful.  Merry CHRISTmas!

When to mail cards

Hi Everyone,, I have Christmas cards that have to go to different countries. Does anyone know when the mailing deadlines are yet?? I need to send some to Scotland, England, and Canada. I started filling the out about a month ago,,, good thing to do while you are waiting at the doctors, riding in the car, while hubby drives, any time you are just sitting waiting with bored hands. Thanks, Trudy In Missouri

Having a Christmas Card making Party.

I am planning on having a Christmas Card Making day for some of the women in my family,, and a few friends. I am planning on making an event out of it,, serving lunch and having Christmas music on. I have lots of Christmas craft supplies,, but has anyone got any wonderful ideas how to make this an extra special day?

Thanks ahead for any advice,, I have never done this before and I want it to be a success.

Christmas Stamps

Number 10 on Krisann's excellent list of "10 Tips on Preparing Your Christmas Cards" mentions buying your stamps early to avoid long lines in the post office. I suggest going one better! Order your holiday stamps online and your mailman will bring them right to your door -- at absolutely no additional cost to you!

Just go to www.usps.com and in about 60 seconds your order will be placed, saving you the expense of gas, the hassle of a busy parking lot, and anywhere from minutes to hours in travel and waiting in line time -- depending on when you go and how busy your PO is.

Your stamps should arrive in your mailbox within a day or two after your order is placed.

Card Creating Ideas Sites?

I'd love to not only make my own Christmas Cards this year, but to also make several gifts -- assorted card collections that the recipients can use year-round for birthdays, anniversarys, holidays, etc.

I've gotten some great ideas from www.twopeasinabucket.com, but I'm looking for more! Does anyone know of any other sites that I can use to "borrow" some creative card ideas?

I scrapbook, so I've got absolutely anything a person could want in the card creating department. Die-cut machines, hundreds of dies, embossing templates, paints, markers, thousands of different papers, glitter, beads, mylar, ribbon... you get the idea! You name it and I have it. LOL

Card Enclosures

I want to include something in each card this year but it needs to be flat - does anyone have some good suggestions of things to put in the cards that say "I am thinking of you".

Thanks in advance

Krisann

cross stitch christmas cards

For christmas I had received a gift card to barns and noble. Now I like to read but never seem to have the time. SO it was not a over joyed gift. But off I went to barns and noble and just happened into the magazine section of the store. And to my surprise I happened to come across a cross stitch magazine from England specially for making Cards! This issue was just for Christmas. I snapped it up and decided that this is going to be my project for the spring. To cross stitch Christmas Cards for 2007 Xmas! Now I have done a little cross stitching over the years but this magazine has really excited me to make some of these cards for this year!!  THis past week I have gone over to AC Moore and gotten the aida cloth and this week I will pick out 1 project out of the magazine to start.
