Make Way for Holiday Decorations
Make Way For Holiday Decorations
It's the most wonderful time of the year, or so says the one of the songs of the season...but as well as being the most wonderful time it is also one of the busiest. We have places to go, people to see, parties, gift giving, card sending, decorating and cleaning.
Notice I saved the best to for last, cleaning. Yes Cleaning. This is the time of year when most busy women do the most cleaning. Many of us don't do "spring cleaning" as much as out mothers and grandmothers did. But come November/December and we start to plan dinners, parties, family gatherings and decorating. This all requires cleaning.
The other step after cleaning is decorating. In order to decorate we have to make room for the decorations. For many of us, we will have to clean and after cleaning we will have to remove much of the current collect of items that is presently in the place that will soon be covered by Holiday decorations.
So our steps are:
Clean, Decorate & Relocate.
I personally do these three steps in a room by room plan.
Pick and room to start decorating
The easiest way that I do the Clean Decorate & Relocate plan is the following:
I find a large surface that I can place all the items that are being relocated to make way for the holiday decorations. As I remove each item I clean and dust (this way it will be put away clean, which means when it get returned it will be clean (this will save you time latter).
After I have removed everything I then will clean, dust, sweep, wash, polish and any other type of preparation that you need to do.
I have my Christmas decoration stored in plastic tubs. Because I decorate more then one room, I have at least one tub for each room.
So if I am decorating the Dinning Room, I will bring up the tote that is marked "Dinning Room.
I will then take out and place the decorations around the Dinning Room. After I have finished with my decorating I will place any items that will be stored during the holidays in the plastic totes that are labeled Dinning Room. This will make it easier for me when I have to reverse this process and "Undecorated".
This process is done in ever area that I wish to decorate.
The final step will be to store the plastic tubs which are now filled with the items that had to be removed in order to decorate. I return the tubs to the storage area to await the process of Undecorating .
