Theme Trees as Focal Points in Each Room
Many people have theme trees in their homes and no matter if your tree is small enough to fit in your hand or barely gets in your door theme trees can add extra meaning during the holidays. Most people who have theme trees have multiple trees in their house and the trees are specific to the rooms that they are located. Today we will look at different rooms in your house and some ideas for doing theme trees for that room.
Living Room - Your main living area or living room tree is usually the "main tree" and for this reason can be whatever theme you choose like Victorian, country, Santa's, snowmen, hand-made, etc. Some people change the tree theme each year while others stick with the same theme and just add new decorations each year. Either way it is fun finding new items to add to your main tree each year.
Kitchen - The kitchen can be a really fun tree. One of my favorites I saw at a friend's house one year was a cookie cutter tree. She collects antique cookie cutters and ties pretty red ribbons to them and then hangs them on the tree. Very simple yet beautiful. She did not use garland - only lights and the cookie cutters. You could also use miniature cooking items from children's cooking sets to decorate a tree or use cut out cookies. Be creative and just look around your kitchen for ideas!
Kids Room - Another room that is fun to decorate is a child's room or playroom. Some great ideas for this are to use kid's meal toys or items made by children as ornaments, paper chains or popcorn the children do themselves as garland, and use a child's quilt as the tree skirt. You may want to ask your children what types of items they would like to put on their tree - you might be surprised at what they tell you.
Craft Room - Your craft room tree can reflect what your favorite craft or hobby is. Just decorate the tree with items from your supplies like thread, bobbins, and use extra material as garland on the tree. Done on a mini tree this also makes a great gift for a crafter on your list!
Whatever room you want to add a theme tree to allow it to show off the heart of the room. One example is if you have a collection in one room then do a tree in that theme. Every tree has special meaning to its creator!
