late January and winter finially arrives! better late than never
Jan. 28 2007
well here on cape cod winter has finially arrived. Very cold and we got a bit of snow. Wished that it was here for christmas!
This past week I have had that flu like bug that is going arround. Yuck! For 3 days I felt freezing off and on and like a mat truck ran me over. No fever, but the chills are nasty. Needless to say I did not get much of anything done.
And once I did feel better, I had to go back to work and catch up on my own house work.
Last night I did stay up and started a scarf. Those are always welcome gifts. (Unless you live in yearround warm weather!) Anyway I am using a size 13 pair of knitting needles. I am not big on kinitting but thought this to work up rather quickly. And I must say, it is. When I put it down for the evening it was half done. Tonight I will finish the knitting. And perhaps do the fringe tomorrow (Monday).
I have a nice clear zipper bag that I putting my homemade gifts into. (so I can see what is done). I have a couple of these that I saved from when you get those bedding sheet set from.
Yesterday, I had to go to the dump to get rid of the trash. We have a swap shop that I usually stop into. there. I got lucky and found a few treasures. 1 pair of size 13 knitting needles (which is what I am using for the scarf) and 2 mini ceramic loaf dishes (never used). I poped those into the dish washer and then put them away on my Christmas shelf in the kitchen.
I have cleared a shelf in the kitchen just for my holiday cooking supplies. I have the holiday magazines with the thanksgiving and christmas recipes, and now 14 holiday mini loaf pans for when I make my pumpkin cranberry breads (thanksgiving) and fudge (christmas). Those are for the cleaning clients that I give to.
The mini ceramic loaves that I purchase are 1.00 each and after the holidays they go down to 50 cents. But you have to be quick to grab them, for they get snapped up real quick. So, when I find them at the swap shop for nothing, that is even a better bargain. (it is hit or miss, you never know what you will find at the swap shop)
well, that is it for now. I will blog again next week unless something exciting happens in the middle of the week.
Happy Holidays, Robbin

working away on Home made gifts in Feb.
Well I am heading off to work in a couple of minutes and thought I would post my procress.
So far I have knitted 2 scarves. (knitting is not my thing!) And I found on line (got very excited about) a couple of crochet patterns for hot pads and pot holders.
I crocheted so far 4 (hot pads) and am work on another 1. The best way to describe them is that they look like a pinwheel. I love how they have come out. And what is nice about them is you can use up all your scrap yarns. (hate to throw anything a way) I think I will do about 12 and then move on to making some of the pot holders.
And I have got 1 cross stitch Christmas Card half done. I love it , but it is a very slow process. Those I will send to my special friends and family (depending how many I actually get done).
Now I have to run off to work. Will blog when I have a little more time. I wonder if there is a place here where I can post photo's of my gifts that I am making? Robbin
