 My favorite Christmas

My favorite Christmas movie is "A Christmas Story". Having 3 sons, I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Ralphie you'll shot your eye out!" Laughing

My next favorite would have to be "It's A Wonderful Life" followed closely by "Miracle on 34th Street"

Guess you coud say I'm a sucker for the classics!Wink

My Favorite Christmas Movie

My very favorite Christmas movie is "Little Women", the June Allison version.  I really like it because it is about family, love, sharing, and I think the true meaning of Christmas comes out in the story.  It is about giving and putting others before yourself, especially those who are needy. The Mother is a great example to her children and teaches them well.

I think a great tradition surrounding this movie for me is something I've been planning for a while.  Have my favorite women(My Mom, daughters, daughter in law, mother in law, and friends)over for a Victorian Christmas Tea.  Watch the movie, have fingerfoods, apple cider, eggnog, hot tea etc. Exchange small gifts, and have a time of reflecting on Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour, giving Him thanks! Maybe even adding Victorian Dress Christmas Caroling.  I think that would be a wonderful Christmas Party. At least 3 hours worth.  I will let you know how it turns out.

I have three movies

in particular that I always watch during the holidays: A Christmas Story (people seem to love or hate it. I love it!); A Christmas Carol (1951)- the Alistar Sims version; A Christmas Carol (1999)- the Patrick Stewart version. I always try to catch It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 31th Street, White Christmas, and Holiday Inn also. Plus the animated specials from my childhood- Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown Christmas, Twas the Night Before Christmas and the various Rankin-Bass shows. No real traditions associated with any of them. They're just the ones I like to see! Carolyn

My favorites!

I LOVE Christmas Vacation! I love the part where the cat gets fried - sorry. :D I also love Santa Clause 1 & 2, and cannot WAIT for this year's new release of 3!!!!!!!!! I love all the animated classics, too, and don't forget NESTOR, THE LONG-EARRED DONKEY! We've tried to say we're going to watch one holiday movie a weekend together, but Ken can be a scrooge. :D SO, I enjoy them whenever I feel like it. :)

Christmas Movie Tradition

Last year we started a new family tradition for Christmas movies. Instead of having a big Christmas party, we had 5 movie nights starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. We each chose the movies for one night. Our schedule last year went like this:

Friday after Thanksgiving: Steven's movie night--A Garfield Christmas and Jingle All the Way

Pat's movie night: Christmas with the Krank's

Morgaine's movie night: Ziggy's Gift and The Muppet Christmas Carol (which I would have chosen if she hadn't--it is a favorite of the whole family!)

Victoria's movie night: A Christmas Story and Scrooged

Whitney's movie night: Santa Claus is Coming to Town and I'll Be Home for Christmas

This was a ton of fun for us. We were able to open our house every Friday without people being stressed about whether they could make it or not. It was very casual and we had friends over every night we had a movie. On Christmas eve we watched (just the family) White Christmas--which is another of our all time favorite Christmas movies. We printed the invites on Christmas themed paper. The plan is to do the same thing this year!

Every time I go to work, I end up at a party!

I too love this idea....

I've never heard of Ziggy's Gift. That is the Ziggy cartoon, correct? You see, my father's name was Ziggy, so I will watch for this one as a keeper. I too cannot wait for The Santa Clause 3 to come out. :) This idea sounds really great. I'm going to pose it to my sister, and see how she feels about it. We could take turns at each other's houses, do dinner of pizza or something like that, and hot chocolate, and we could do this. It's sounds like a lot of fun. :) Thanks so much for the idea. :)

That's TOO cool!!

I LOVE this idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I could do something similar, but with two families in the household, it's hard to plan around everyone's work. <sigh> Wish I lived close enough to drop by! LOL!!!
