I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Getting ready to host Christmas!

I have volunteered to have Christmas Day at my house this year. It has always been at my Mom's or for the last several years,my Aunt's, and any attempts to move it to a different place have always been frowned upon. This year though, my aunt has decided it's just too much for her anymore, so I volunteered. I don't know whether it will actually happen or not, but just in case, I think I need to start preparing NOW!!! There are usually between 50-60 people. My house is not huge, but I do have a large basement. However, it is FULL of stuff! We moved here about 2 1/2 years ago, and I never really organized the basement. All the kids toys that they've outgrown, all my old homeschool stuff, and who knows what else is down there! So, my goal is to spend about an hour a day at least, decluttering. My kids go back to school in 2 weeks, so hopefully I will be able to get a lot done then. The meal will be a pot luck, so all I have to do is the turkey & potatoes. But I do want to have a lot of cookies and snack foods too. I also want to buy some things to furnish my basement, couches, chairs, maybe a fooseball table. . . So I am going to look at garage sales for those. The countdown begins! . . . .

Well, the kids are back in

Well, the kids are back in school, and while I wouldn't say things are settled down, I do have a little time to myself during the day. So on Tuesday, I started in the basement. I've committed to 1 hour a day at least Mon. through Thurs. Fridays the kids have a half day, so it's a little more difficult. Anyway, today was my third day, and it is amazing how much you can accomplish in one hour! My basement is divided into 4 sections. The first section, and half of the second section are done. Of course, those were the easiest parts. The third and fourth section will be the most difficult, and take a lot more time I am sure. But it feels really good to have gotten started, and to see some results so quickly! The only problem is that I am so tired out after the hour, that I am not getting enough accomplished in the rest of my house! But it's coming along. My husband is working a ton of overtime right now, so when that is over with, in about a month, he will be able to help as well. (If I can talk him into it!:)
