Christmas in July?
Submitted by jcatmom on Sun, 07/23/2006 - 18:32.
Hi! Has anyone out there celebrated Christmas in July by sending out cards? The last several years, I've had difficulty getting cards out to everyone because I like to tuck in a personal handwritten note. I've also noticed myself opening cards from others without notes with just a quick glance. (Not those from friends or family I see frequently but with whom this seems to be my only contact.) Though I appreciate being remembered, I've wondered at the sincerity (for lack of a better word) behind the thought or whether it's just one more chore to be crossed off a list. So, I came up with this brainstorm to try sending out cards when I have more time to write and really reach out. But, now that I sit down to this undertaking, it seems a little foolish. I'm not sure whether to send actual Christmas cards, which for this mailing anyway, are specifically talking about lights and holiday wishes. I don't necessarily want to create more stress by making my own cards, which appeals to my creative side but I know I won't see through. Any thoughts from anyone??? Thanks.

Sending out cards
I admit cards are my one big area I need to get better on during the holidays - one thing I have found to be very helpful during the year is to go through my card list on the 25th of each month and write several people each month. I just use plain blank cards or thinking of you cards to write my note in. It is not a "Christmas Card" but I do it in the spirit of the Christmas season.
This is a great way to keep in touch over the year - I purposefully do not use Christmas cards any time other than the holiday season because not everyone understands our love of doing Christmas things all year long!
