Journaling Prompts for Crafts

  • Gifts – Are you making any gifts to give for Christmas?  If so now is the time to evaluate what you are giving.
    • What gifts do you want to make?
    • How many of each of these gifts are you planning on making?
    • Is it assembling items already made with a touch of handmade to you?  (example – towel with the person's name embroidered on it or a gift basket you design and wrap)
    • How long will it take you to make EACH item?  Now is the time to take a realistic look at each item you want to make and figure out if you really have time to complete these projects and still have a life!
    • Can any of your crafts be an assembly line production with others in your family or friends?  (children, grandchildren, friends, etc.)
    • Can you create a "craft on the go" bag to work on things while waiting places or for trips?

  • Decorating – Do you have decorations to make?  You may not consider the basket full of scented pinecones a craft but it is!  Take time now to think about the decorating elements you must create for the holidays.
    • What items do you plan to make for decorations?
    • Of these what can be made ahead of time?
    • What items need to be made in November or December (Gingerbread houses, Orange/Clove balls, etc.)
    • Are there items you need to ask others to collect or permission to collect from their property? (pine cones, greens, etc.)
Can you buy parts of it now for completion later? (for example – wreath bases that you will use live greens with)  Add this to your shopping list.
