Creating a Holiday Atmosphere
From a simple tabletop tree to a house full of trees with different themes on each one - decorating is what truly sets the mood for the holiday season. When trying to take the stress out of decorating your house there are some simple steps to follow whether you want a single candle in a window or you want to help planes land in your yard with all the lights.
- Define your decorating style. This helps when you seek out new items for your house so you do not have to ponder if the item would fit into your decorations you already own. (Hint - if you are not sure what your decorating style is take out or think about your decorations and see if you have a common theme. If you tend to have all glass ornaments then wooden ones would not fit in very well.)
- Make a list during the holiday season of new items you would like to purchase for next year and look for these items at the after Christmas sales.
- Involve the whole family in decorating - even if it is not "perfect"
- Invite others over to help you decorate.
- Look through magazines and books for new ideas throughout the entire year and make notes of the things you would like to try.
