Traveling during the holidays

We are going to be traveling some during the holiday's.  I am working on scheduling oil changes for the cars plus getting them looked at for the road trips.  The last thing I want to do is get stranded in the cold weather some place.  I guess I also need to do an emergency kit for the road - just in case . . .
