Card Enclosures
Submitted by kblair on Mon, 02/21/2005 - 19:38.
I want to include something in each card this year but it needs to be flat - does anyone have some good suggestions of things to put in the cards that say "I am thinking of you".
Thanks in advance
Krisann

How about an extra poem

How about using vellum and printing an extra poem on it...about....thinking of you, or missing you. I am not sure how to use the vellum, but I know it's real pretty. Hope this helps.

Snowflakes
I'm from Utah, so I sometimes crochet snowflakes and send a little Utah snow, especially to my relatives in the South. I suppose that there are other ways to make flat snowflake ornaments: (cross-stitch, have the kids cut intricate ones out of paper, etc.) Of course, we make them in July!

How about flower seeds- maybe "Forget Me Nots" or "Rosemary" seeds (Rosemary for rememberance). Since it is now the end of the season, you might be able to pick them up cheaply at your garden center. You could even get littler envelopes & repackage them (of course writing the planting info on a card or the envelope).
BTW... I enjoyed reading what all the other ladies ideas for enclosures. Lots of food for thought.

Another idea, though it would require planning ahead, would be to enclose a photo of the two of you together.

I love enclosing little things with my Christmas cards also. Here are a few of my ideas...
I make my own gift tags, mostly with rubber stamps, and tuck a few of these in with the card.

Address labels
Old pictures that the person I'm sending to would have sent to our family long ago. Sometimes their kids don't have copies so I like to return them to the family.
For a quilter, I try to send along a few fabric squares from my stash
THere's also another poem I found that compares the white snow of a snowman to the way Christ washes us white as snow. I'm going to copy that onto cardstock and draw a snowman around the poem.
That was about all I could come up with for right now. The other things I thought of have already been mentioned. If I come up with any more, I'll post them later.
Thanks for such a wonderful site!

My Two Favorite Card Enclosures
Two of my very favorite things to put in cards -- whether it's for Christmas, Birthdays, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving.... or even a "thinking of you" card-- are
1. $1.00 Lottery Ticket
2. Bookmarks -- either handmade or storebought
Most states have "scratch off" instant lottery tickets these days, and if you don't know already, you will be amazed at how many holidays, etc. they come out with themed tickets for!
As for the bookmarks -- you can go as plain or elaborate as you'd like. You can personalize them with the recipients name, buy or create them with a theme to fit the occasion... make them fancy with tassles made out of gold metallic embroidery floss... rubberstamp and emboss them for a very "polished" look... the list just goes on and on.
What do you think? :)

P.S. Has anyone tried the message board spellchecker yet? Has it worked for you?

Hi Krisann
What about a tea bag, or sachet of coffee or cocoa, with a suggestion to have a rest break?

Card Enclosures
I love the tea bags idea! I have a senior that I send cards and letters to, and I often send just a tea bag or sachet. Sometimes I will send a pin. Bookmarks are a great idea as well. Confetti is fun, too.

I LOVE all of the ideas! I've also added those cards with scriptures, poems or just beautiful passages. Also have added refrigerator magnets that were flat. Pressed flowers are fun too!
