Gifts for men

I have a really difficult time coming up with really good gifts for men. The one exception to the rule is my Dad. He loves books, and the more the better, so I can always get him a good book and he will always love it. My husband, on the other hand, is not a "material" person.

102 degrees and Christmas in my Heart!

I am contemplating some new projects (just a couple) for Christmas this year. It's been a long time since I've blogged here, and since my last entry, I've finished my knitted and crocheted dishcloths for the friends and neighbors.

Easter snow

We are having an Easter weekend snowstorm today. It isn't quite the weekend yet, but it's going to storm all through it, according to our local weather report.

Christmas quilt

I am going to finish a wildlife quilt for my 3 year old grandson today, hopefully. Also there is a sale at our local Kings store and I'm going to go and pick up pretty dishtowels for .99 apiece for neighbor gifts. I'm giving them with knitted dishcloths and a "Hillbilly washer and dryer" poem along with them. I give about 30 neighbor gifts every year, so it's important to get them on sale.

Grandkids Christmas

I've been thinking of my five grandkids and what to do for them this Christmas. I have plenty of time to work on it, and I have a tradition of giving each of them something handmade from Grandma. I have done hooded bath towels and crocheted afghans for nap time in the past. I have made each grand-daughter a Raggedy Ann doll and the each child some knitted mittens. I'm still thinking for 2008.

I'm back!

304 days until Christmas, and I'm back and ready to go! I had a few health issues pop up during January, and I've been away for awhile, but now I'm back, and I'm ready to get in gear with my Christmas preparations!

stormy afternoon

Today, we are having a very stormy afternoon. All during last night, the wind blew and rain drops pelted against our bedroom windows. I love it!

WINTER and SNOW

I supposed that I'm really different than most people. I LOVE snow and winter weather, and I'm not a skiier! I just enjoy the coziness of winter and the feeling of being "safe and warm inside" while outside, the storm rages.

Christmas music

I have been listening to a lot of Christmas Music as I've been recuperating from my back injury. I have a very large collection of it, and have downloaded it to my MP3 player so I can take it on my daily walks with me. My grandmother was my piano teacher and she really loved Christmas music as did my Grandfather. His favorite was Bing Crosby. He would listen to rock and roll with me and then I would listen to Bing with him. Funny thing, nowadays, I prefer Bing to Rock. Christmas brings back so many good memories of childhood for me. It also brings back memories of my younger brother who passed away unexpectedly 13 years ago. He loved it like I did. When he died in August, he had already purchased my Mom's Christmas gift and it's now a keepsake to her.

Out of pain. . .faith

My back had terrible spasms on Monday, and, after two days of lying on the floor in great pain every time I moved, I began to wonder if life would ever be the same again. Just goes to show you the power of prayer. After a lot of prayer and faith, and the help of two wonderful sons and husband who took care of me, I'm feeling much much better and can sit up and knit some Christmas mittens today! I'm so thankful for all everyone did for me, and I hope that I can stay pain free now. Lying on the floor needing to ask for help with the simplest things made me think. I really want to give back to everyone this Christmas and show them how much I love and care for them!
