Easter
Submitted by mamatambo on Mon, 04/17/2006 - 11:19.Well, Easter was a big success. It was nice to get to visit with family. The kids enjoyed hunting eggs and of course being in the upper 90's we had to bring in the eggs and candy pretty fast before we had a bunch of chocolate kids running around. :)
As usual after the holidays I go and buy clearance stuff so that we can use them the next year to make baskets for everybody including some elderly at the nursing home. We made baskets this year and took them up there. Those folks in the home sure love having any little thing to brighten their days. I try to buy as much stuff as I can to make little things for them. My grandmother and aunt are both in that home so we make some for them and for others. If you guys ever get the chance to pick up craft things cheap it sure is rewarding to make things for them and give them something like that. They love hugs too :) well, most of them lol.
The kids are out of school one more day then they will have something more to do. I guess I should try to keep craft stuff going year round.
Every year around Christmas I keep several projects going for the kids as they get bored.. you know teenagers :). We make the oranges with ribbons and cloves, they smell so good. We also make bead ornaments every year and other ornaments as well as decorations and gifts.
Last year we made several jars of scented bath crystals for men and women and they loved them and I try to make a lot of ornaments so the kids will have a set each when they move out on their own someday. I still have two at home and time flys quickly.
Well, I'll go for now. Have a great week!
Deb's Christmas Meanderings
Submitted by mamatambo on Fri, 04/14/2006 - 20:23.Hi everybody..
This looked like an interesting site and since I love Christmas and everything about it I thought I would just sit my little self down and visit a while. :)
Christmas has always been a big family celebration in our families. We may not have seen some of them all year but usually at Christmas we were able to get together and visit a little. I've worked in nursing homes, childrens shelters, hospitals and been so broke that I didn't even put up a tree because there wasn't anything to put under it so I understand Christmas has to be in the heart and if there are gifts no matter what size shape or form that's just a plus. So I've learned to be thrifty, creative, budget wise over the years. Hopefully I can share some of that and also learn more from anyone who shares with me.
Hopefully you'll have a great Summer.. or Winter wherever you are. It's great to be here. See you on the boards soon!
